I have a feeling Doug is talking about Eva Cassidy in the beginning of the video, where we dont get to hear fully what he said. This is from an interview he had years ago: "Alan: Your songs have been recorded by many artists, so which are your favourite interpretations? Doug: I have a couple of favourites. One was Eva Cassidy’s version of Nightbird. That song is about a prostitute, a prostitute that I used to live with who really watched out for me. I have no idea if Eva Cassidy knew what that song was about and I never heard it until my wife played it for me during a drive to Los Angeles from San Luis Opisbo. I’m a huge baseball fan and my team, the Cardinals from St Louis, were playing the Dodgers and I wanted to listen to the game. My wife said “I got something for you to hear”, and I said, “But the Cardinals are on” and she said “This is more important than the Cardinals” and she put this CD on of Eva Cassidy. I tell you, it moved me so much, I pulled over to the side of the road and I was weeping. I have never done that song again. When people ask me to do Nightbird, I tell them that if they want to hear THE version, she is the one to listen to" And I agree. Eva Cassidy is one of the greatest voices of all time. Gone too soon.

I wonder how it feels to play the same song since 1972 (52 years)?

I saw this band (well, different guitarist and bassist) in Sydney, 1975. As I remember, for most of their performance they were a bit lacklustre and then in the last 15 minutes they came together and really exploded with some fantastic playing, of course, Hocus Pocus being their final offering for the evening.

I remember when this song came out and you could only hear it on progressive college radio stations. How great it s to be able not just to see this live but played nearly, exactly as it was years ago. Asia must have been great too? Thanks for posting...

thanks for the video...when this band first arrived on the scene they made quite a stir..prog rock was all over the place and focus right in the middle of it...

This always was my favorite Dixie Dregs song I can't believe they actually play it live now. I got to see them in the early 80's twice really hoping to see them do this tune. They for whatever reason did not play it back then or ever live and I don't know why? Those getting to witness this now are extremely lucky!
